Press Release - Niki Moore and Little Book of Rugby

You could almost call this an Idiot's Guide to Rugby', or 'Rugby for Dummies', because it is intended to be a catch-all reference book for people who are interested in rugby and would like to know something about the game, but don't necessarily see the need to be an expert.
As the foreword explains, these are the basics of the game, some history, some trivia, some fun.  It is meant to accompany you to the game (which is why there is an autograph book at the back), but also to be dipped into whenever you want to know something. With the basics in place, you can also start to make intelligent conversation with rugby experts, and get involved in some of the more complicated aspects of the game.   It is also meant to be entertaining.
This book is, astonishingly, unique:  a simple explanation of the basic rules of rugby; some history; some rugby trivia; some facts, some fun.
"Last year I attended a function where I met some Shark's players," says the book's Durban-based writer Niki Moore.  "I was impressed by how down-to-earth and unassuming they were, so when the Super 14 season started, I suggested to some friends that we go to a match - the first time I have ever attended a live rugby match.  And immediately I was hooked!"
However, Niki quickly discovered that there was a need for a book that explained rugby to the spectator.  "I went looking for a sort of idiot's guide to rugby, so that I could learn more about the game,' she said.  "I found that a lot of people followed rugby but did not know much about it.  And even though I searched the Internet for a guide book of some sort, I found that there wasn't one for the new-comer rugby fan.  All the books were either very specific or very technical.  So, being a journalist, I decided to write one!"
The information in the book has been checked by players, coaches, rugby writers and referees, so the information is extremely reliable.  It is also written in a light and accessible style so that it would be easy to read and enjoyable for everyone.  It is illustrated with cartoons and diagrams to explain types of play.

Kavanagh Tipping Publishing are proud to publish this great little book in the UK. It is hoped that this willben_cohen_-_forward_-_tlbr.doc175.jpg be popped into handbags and rucksacks all over the country as spectators take to the rugby clubs to join in the passion of the worlds most passionate sport.

We are also delighted to include Ben's foreword. As a seasoned rugby player with 57 caps for his country under his belt he still remembers what it is like to start out as a youngster, not really knowing one end of the pitch from the other.

Little book of Rugby is a must for all young players and spectators of all ages (there's even a space for autographs!).
